Stitch a Seam

Introduction to the sewing machine and types of seams:

Starting from how to insert a thread to stitching finishing lines on the bodice, I have learnt on the journey. Firstly I practiced the controlling of the pedal on paper and then moved on to inserting the thread through the various loops and holes of the machine.

Trying to acquire straight lines and curves on the muslin fabric pieces, it took me at least a week to gain finesse.

Moving ahead I learnt the meaning of seams and hems.

Seams: a line where two pieces of fabric are sewn together in a garment or other article.

Hems: the edge of a piece of cloth or clothing which has been turned under and sewn.
