Edges
An edge is a line or border at which a surface terminates. It is famously known in the argument based on the shape of our planet Earth. In Ecology, edge effects are changes in population or community structures that occur at the boundary. Universal edges are physical whereas the edges of intangible aspects such as wishes and wants, expectations and requirements of all social bodies are only theoretical. Pushing oneself to the extreme edge to achieve goals in life can be considered healthy at times. When it comes to societal edges, the multi-headed organisation can reflect to acts and laws in heavy numbers causing a larger impact.
Ecotones
An Ecotone can be formed naturally, through abiotic factors but can also be created through human interaction. Ecotones are considered areas of great environmental importance and value due to their richness of content. Provides an area for a large number of species, they often experience invasion from animals looking to nest or searching for food. Additionally an Ecotone can act as a hibernation zone protecting the neighboring ecosystem. It seems likely that environmental scientists will pay increasing attention to Ecotones as these provide a sensitive indicator of global change. Boundaries
The term ‘boundaries’ can be defined in various relations. It means a line which marks the limits of an area but more commonly boundaries are associated with culture, caste, societal behaviour and cricket! Physical boundaries help us determine who may touch us and under what circumstances. Mental boundaries give us the freedom to have our own thoughts and opinions and so on.
Relation to Design
Edges
Limitation to design: One may not want to go over certain edges that are set by self conscience and society/things around us. They may be capable of greater outcomes but may be scared to push ahead of the edge.
Extent of Design: After a certain point, there comes a time when there is nothing more left to innovate with a certain type of design. This is where the edge of it has arrived and now it can only be Redesigned.
