Week 2: The List Keeper

Even though the first never finished… My second week at Elle was dedicated to two of the May issue’s most important features- the cover shoot and the lifestyle feature. The team sources apparel, jewellery, shoes and accessories from almost 50 brands and designers both international and domestic.

Having received and logged all the incoming couriers of the same, it was now time to set up the fashion closet. The closet space is shared by the Elle decor team of the upper floor and was stocked with their Carnival boxes. Well no excuses can be forwarded to the editor, so I coordinated with the Decor team to provide me with one empty corner. Within an hour 102 pieces of apparel, 51 pieces of swimwear, 40 pairs of shoes and jewellery was displayed for the editor to start picking looks. Not only did we pick 8 full looks for the cover but also added in more options and a styling kit to the bag.

The next day, fashion assistant and I picked looks for the feature and carefully stored back all the other leftovers. Surprisingly, the location chosen for the feature was a sample bungalow of a prestigious building company- Lodha Builders. The beautiful 3 floored space was a bliss but precautions such as construction helmets and shoes covers were to be taken by all. The week ended with a 50 minute train journey towards home.

Styling Gear at Features Shoot

NOTE TO SELF: Fashion goes from ironing clothes to attending after parties in a Versace gown. It’s all part of the game.
