Having moved back on track with work, this week at Elle we were scheduled to shoot the First Look pages. Starting Friday the stylist, the Delhi intern and I had worked on call ins and follow ups. This time we had all the apparel, jewelry and accessories delivered to us by Monday leaving us with one full day to make ideal looks and pack. This shoot was very special to me as I was looking forward to learning a styling perspective ranging out of my comfort zone. PRINTS!
Oh how they scare me! So I paid complete attention to everything from how the stylist envisioned it to how the theme was followed. We arrived on Wednesday, the day of the shoot. The fashion editor was to join us on the set coming in directly from Cannes. Keen to learn, I started earlier and got to the set earliest of all. I started to set up the accessories table, jewelry and clothes rack. The shoot went on for hours as we all invested time in getting the exact visual that was ideated. Throughout the shoot, I got to see the different approaches of the editor and the stylist towards the theme and also add in my suggestions for styling. It was a very productive day which made me realize how much I really love to do what I do.
Not all working environments are healthy and happy. But overlooking the same, delivering the best results and going to bed with a satisfaction of having done enough should be the goal. When I see the glossy pages with my contribution on the 5th of this month, I know I will be proud and in love with it. And that it was worth the 2.5 hour travel in 35 degrees everyday, the mistakes I was called out for, the endless hours in front of screens and leaving behind all comforts in Bournemouth.
This crazy city, this demanding internship and this workaholic me are all my sweaty lovers.
Note to self: Learn… Grasp as much as you can. This is the time when someone is going to spoon feed you all information and accept all errors made. So make mistakes and repair them. Believe in yourself!
